DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
An open, thoughtful, and experienced mind is the most valuable resource I bring to any project. Openness involves listening well to clients, and finding architectural solutions that keep their goals and preferences in the forefront. Thoughtfulness involves creativity, and not just creativity for novelty’s sake, but creativity that is triggered by the specific and unique challenges of each project. Experience involves using past accomplishments to enhance and benefit current design solutions.
I am comfortable working in a diverse range of styles. Whether my clients prefer a conservative, traditional approach to design, or a more unencumbered, contemporary direction, or even a very eclectic mix, I am still able to apply fundamental design principles and sound technological practices that result in durable, practical, and comfortably stimulating homes for my clients.
SERVICES
Depending on the needs of the client and the nature of their project, I offer a wide range of services including:
- initial consultation
- feasibility studies
- site analysis and selection
- conceptual design
- design development
- construction drawings
- interior and exterior architectural details
- specifications
- construction observation
I foster effective working relationships with other professional consultants including structural, civil, and mechanical engineers; landscape architects; interior designers; and lighting designers. These relationships allow me to assemble project teams suited to the unique needs of each client and their project.
My services are not limited to clients in the Puget Sound area. Although most of the homes I have designed are in western Washington, my work also includes projects in Oregon, California, and Rhode Island.
BIOGRAPHICAL
As the son of a US Naval officer, I traveled extensively while growing up, and lived in several east and west coast US cities as well as Spain and Japan. In 1974 I earned my Bachelor of Architecture degree from Washington State University. I am a licensed architect, registered in Washington.
My early career included work in land use planning and land use policy administration, as well as diverse experience in commercial, institutional, and residential architecture on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula. My career became more focused after I moved to the Seattle area in 1979 and joined a design firm that specialized in residential work. In 1982, I co-founded the firm that became Loveless, Eiffert & Anderson Architects. In 2009, I established Eiffert Architecture and I continue to offer architectural services with an emphasis on custom homes, specialty builder homes, remodels, and additions.
In addition to architecture, I enjoy bicycling, reading, motorcycling, and music.
